NANAZ MACARTHUR OF ST. LOUIS, MO IS CHOSEN AS BETTER MADE SNACK FOOD’S 2020 MOTHER OF THE YEAR
* Nanaz’s daughter, Kelly MacArthur, writes a beautiful tribute to her mom
DETROIT, MI – Kelly MacArthur of St. Louis, MO submitted a beautiful tribute to her mother, Nanaz MacArthur, for all she has endured and all she did to give the family the best life possible. It’s one of those stories that warms the heart and shows what it truly means to be a loving mother. Nanaz is Better Made Snack Food’s 2020 Mother Of The Year, and for winning, she will receive a sampler box filled with delicious Better Made Snack foods. Here is Kelly’s submission:
My mother is the epitome of love and the greatest blessing in my life is being her daughter. She has endured more hardship than imaginable. She immigrated to America at 16 years old, and she worked and went to school, becoming an engineer overcoming challenges within the male-dominated profession. She taught by example that grit and perseverance are key to success. Despite her impressive accomplishments, she proudly states her that her greatest achievement is becoming a mother to my older sister, my younger brother, and me. My parents’ life was full of heartache, and they protected and insulated us from the pains of making ends meet. In my preadolescence, my father was diagnosed with stage IV cancer. Medical bills soared while hope plummeted as we learned the painful truth of his fatal condition. My mother worked multiple jobs exceeding 100 hours/week to keep the roof over our heads. My father suffered considerably and passed, leaving behind a devastated family. Our rock, my mother, pulled us through the grief and pushed us toward our promising future. There was nothing she could not overcome to give us everything she could and then more. Every drop of her blood, sweat, and tears paid my way through my medical training, and every action of her benevolent love I work to pay forward to my patients. Despite the devastating loss of our father, we have been the luckiest kids in the world as a result of her truly extraordinary love.
“Nanaz is truly a remarkable person,” says Cathy Gusmano of Better Made Snack Foods. “We had a goodly selection of entries this year, but this one by far topped them all. We wish nothing but blessings and success to Nanaz and her entire family.”
