A classic chocolate chip cookie with Better Made Wavy chips folded straight into the dough. The chips bring salt and crunch the way walnuts wish they could, and the batch is gone before it cools.

Wavy Chip Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
2 cups coarsely crushed Better Made Original Wavy Potato Chips (about 4 oz)
2 cups chocolate chips
Optional: Better Made Sweet Heat Seasoning Shaker, one light dust for a chili-chocolate finish

Instructions

Cream the butter and both sugars with a mixer for 2 to 3 minutes until light and fluffy. Room temperature butter, not melted. Melted butter makes flat cookies.
Beat in the eggs and vanilla for about a minute.
Whisk the flour, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl, then mix into the butter mixture just until no dry streaks remain.
Crush the Wavy chips by hand into coarse pieces. Shards, not dust. Gently fold in the chips and chocolate chips.
Scoop the dough into balls, taller rather than rounder. Chill at least 1 hour. Warm dough spreads and the chips lose their crunch.
Heat oven to 350°F. Set the dough balls 2 inches apart on parchment-lined baking sheets.
Bake about 11 minutes, until the edges are lightly browned. The centers will look soft. That's the target, they set as they cool.
Optional: hit the tops with one light shake of Sweet Heat while the cookies are warm. Cool on the pan 5 minutes, then move to a rack.
BETTER MADE TIP

Wavy chips are the whole trick. The ridges keep their crunch through the bake where a flat chip disappears into the dough. Fold, don’t stir, so the pieces survive.
